What are the lessons you've gained that have profoundly shifted your direction in business? In addition to the point about making as many connections as you can through networking, I think one of the single most important lessons in business – especially any entrepreneurial endeavor – is this: that knowing when to move on is just as important as having the grit to persevere when things are not be going your way.  In my case, as hard as it was to walk away from the first company I started, primarily out of pride, but doing so led me to the bigger and better things that I am doing now.
