Who are your biggest influencers and mentors personally & professionally and why? My mom personally as she is a strong and amazing woman that defied all odds with having me at 18 years old in rural Alabama. My mother and father had me right after graduating high school. They both moved to Korea as my father was in the military and she had to pass up college initially due to this. I’ve seen her do whatever it took to ensure I had food on the table by working at Burger King, small odd jobs here and there to correctional facilities while finishing college courses along the way.

She is now a Chief with the United States government and such a motivating force in my life and is my rock. Professionally, I would have to say Sarah Blakely as she is a hustler. I don’t know anyone that started a startup with $5,000, grew it to where it is now and owns 100% of it. What I learned from her and her story was to find a way, break the rules and make things happen opposed to waiting on someone to give you a handout or approval.

My wife comes into play professionally as well for me as if it wasn’t for her support or “push”, I would still be working at corporate America opposed to pushing my vision and dreams. I had what they called, golden handcuff syndrome where I was making pretty good money, but my heart and mind was never 100% within that corporate lifestyle that people were pushing me into. She gave me that nudge to leave and take some big risks and I’m appreciative of her in so many ways today as it paid off and continues to pay off in a variety of ways.

3 things that we should know about you? I lived in Germany for several years growing up while my parents worked for the government. I was in ROTC and ran track while at Western Kentucky and lastly, I love good food, martial arts and traveling to new places.

What exciting project are you working on? My current obsession is Hawque. It’s a mobile platform that is on Apple and Google that connects individuals and businesses to security providers (guards, police & personal protection agents). I’m very excited about this new journey as it connects to my passion, which is helping people. With Hawque, we have a wonderful opportunity to make our communities safer through our technology.

Books you've enjoyed and what's the takeaway from that book? I’ll never forget The Secret. It basically states that you get what you think. Focus on what you want, be positive about all situations and it will eventually materialize. Laws of attraction can change the world directly.

What's been your most successful approach to building business relationships? Just be yourself, don’t try too hard and always find a way to provide value to the one you are asking something from. You never want to be too salesy or always asking for help without reciprocating. I’ve been this way my entire life in general and it has always seemed to work for me. I truly believe that people respect genuine and transparent motives with business or in life. Do the right thing as it does come back around to you, good or bad.

Favorite spots to frequent for business connections in Atlanta/Nationally and why? I frequent Chops Club locally as it’s a great spot for business meetings and networking. I also like the vibe at the new steak house called Little Alley’s that recently opened here in Buckhead. The outside bar has a South Beach feel. One of my goals for the rest of this year is to build my network and business by attending more social events such as this by City Box Media.

What do you do for fun? I enjoy spending time with my wife and daughter when I do have some down time from work. Eating out in every amazing restaurant we can find in the city and traveling. I’ve been told that I have a fat person lingering inside me with how much we eat out!

What legacy do you want to leave behind? I want to leave a legacy for my family that says that I tried to make a difference in this world. The world is in a scary place right now globally, so I hope that through my business and personal efforts, we can make an impact on several levels. I want to make a lot of money to only give it all away to those in need that aspire to doing the same thing and process. Be generous and help others as maybe it can become contagious.
