“My pieces are being worn to very pivotal events in their lives. Weddings, graduations, album release parties and other events that they will remember for a life time.”
The year I turned 25 was the hardest year of my life to date. Something about that year awoke something in me that made me need to find myself and want my own. Elegant by Alice was born that year, a business that was absolutely my own, that I was free to create and model after myself. My one goal was to create a shopping experience like no one and by creating this I found my purpose.
Hi Alice, welcome to CityBox! Tell me about you and your company? The year I turned 25 was the hardest year of my life to date. Something about that year awoke something in me that made me need to find myself and want my own. Elegant by Alice was born that year, a business that was absolutely my own, that I was free to create and model after myself. My one goal was to create a shopping experience like no one and by creating this I found my purpose.
What inspired you to start designing your own line? I always had a love for clothing. I designed my own line to show every woman that she can get luxurious quality clothing without breaking the bank.

What is your process when designing concepts? If I don’t wear it, I won’t sell it and if I love it, I’ll give it to my EBA Dolls in a wide variety.
What brought you to Atlanta? What brought me to Atlanta was love. Funny I know.... but I feel in love with a boy, we bought a house in Atlanta and it worked perfectly because it was time to expand to a second location, so Buckhead was perfect.
How would you describe your personal style? My personal style is very chic. I love to wear black and take any opportunity to wear a dress. I live in heels except when I’m in gym clothing.
Why did you decide to choose fashion designing as a career? I’m not sure why I chose to be a fashion designer. I would like to say my business and passion to create found me. Never did I think I would love and be so good at clothing.
What are the trends in design now? The trends out now are my absolute favorite. Tweed which can be so exciting to paired with solids or even by itself. I really believe you can never have too much tweed! We are in the colder months, so layering is a must. New outfits can be created by adding one or two pieces to your existing closet.
Sugarcoat values cleanliness and is committed to elevating the industry’s standard level of cleanliness and sterilization to provide our clients with an unparalleled experience. Expect to fall in love with our differentiator when you step into Sugarcoat.
What are the exciting pieces for the season? This season is all about textures. From luxurious beading to feather accents each piece creates a little magic.
Coming from New York and now residing in Atlanta, how has Atlanta shifted your design direction? I am excited to say Atlanta loves my brand. There was little to no change in my designs.
What's been the biggest challenge of your role? The biggest challenge is I stay focused on the road ahead. No matter the victories and small wins, I know it can be better and bigger and I tend to forget to live in the moment of a win.
What's been the most gratifying of being a designer? It would be my customers. My pieces are being worn to very pivotal events in their lives. Weddings, graduations, album release parties and other events that they will remember for a life time. To me that is so special because I am a part of a last memory.
What's proven to be the most effective way to expand your business? When I made my brand, I put my all into it. So being hands on, meet and greeting and just being very available for my brand has been a great way to ensure expansion.
Who are your mentors & what are the qualities do you admire about them? I’m from New York & I was blessed to have an amazing mentor. Someone who built their family’s fruit cart to what is now one of the biggest produce distributions in North America. I was thought to build for your last name. The business I start can be passed down for generations if I work it that purpose.
Tell me about your favorite collection to date and why? My favorite is the 2018 Penthouse Collection. I started playing with more textures and colors. The feedback was absolutely reassuring.
Three things that we should know about you? My business is my baby and like a first-time mom, I can be over protective to a fault. I consider myself to be a creator. No matter what life throws my way I find peace in creating. From cooking to painting or even putting up wallpaper I find my Zen. I think the last thing maybe the most important is once I set my mind on something it consumes me. I eat, sleep and breathe the thought of it and stop at nothing until I get it. From my business to my lifestyle and even my boyfriend lol. I decided I want it, so I got it.
Where do you go to enjoy some R&R? Yoga! There is nothing better than sweating your hard week out in hot yoga.
Favorite spots in Atlanta to meet up with friends? I have only been in Atlanta for a month and have not gone out at all, but I love night life especially because I’m from New York. Nothing better than an immersive dining experience! I will have a list soon!
