ON BUSINESS
Who are your biggest influencers and mentors personally & professionally and why? Howard and Lynne Halpern who orchestrated George Lefont and I purchasing the infamous Coach and Six restaurant. Later after we sold it, they hired me as their first female sales representative selling meat, game and seafood to the hotel and restaurant industry. Without the knowledge I learned there, I would not have been able to be an effective restaurant consultant. The other being my father, he had many sayings like, “when you’re digging a hole stop digging” and never work for anyone.

3 things that we should know about you? My feelings are easily hurt. I can party with the best of them. I wake up early no matter what. I work a lot when everyone else sleeps.

What fuels your drive? When someone says no to me or that will never work.

What exciting projects are you working on? I’m currently working with a Turner fishing guide on a sport safety attachable grab handle.

Books you've enjoyed and what's the takeaway from that book? I mostly read cookbooks and the takeaway is finding the short cuts to make them faster without altering the end results.

What's been your most successful approach in building business relationships? Never act like you know more than anyone else. Be humble, treat all fairly and people will help you when you need it.

What are the lessons you've gained that have profoundly shifted your direction in business? As my friend Frank Stone used to say, “If at first you don’t succeed, lower your standards.” Which means to me, work from the bottom up, you can’t start from the top. And the last one at the table gets the deal. Stick to your goals.

Your mantra? Plan for the short-term future like 3-6 months ahead having fun and long term future like 20-30 years ahead for financial security. Enjoy your friends and make time for them.

What type of digital magazine or periodicals do you enjoy? I’m still partial to print media so I can tear out things I want to hold onto. The only time I’m using digital media is when I need to forward an article or medical information to someone.

GETTING PERSONAL
Favorite spots to frequent for business connections in Atlanta/Nationally and why? Anywhere and everywhere. I strongly believe in female networking as well.

Apple or Samsung why? Apple for airdrop and iTunes syncing. I think Apple has better apps for me too.

What do you do for fun? I’m a fan of fashion consignment shops, estate jewelry, flea markets and art galleries . I also love to go to the movies. For sports I live fly fishing and hiking.

What legacy do you want to leave behind? To be remembered for my generosity, good laughter, a great entertainer, business savvy and being a trail blazer.
