Who are your biggest influencers and mentors personally & professionally and why? My biggest influencers and mentors, in my life, first off, is my husband. Everything I do in my life moves through our connection and relationship. He is brilliant, an incredible negotiator, extremely leveled headed and above all he tells me the truth and he has my back, if he agrees or doesn't agree with what I have decided to do at the end of the day. I would have to say that these ladies have influenced me professionally and personally over the past 3 decades: Chiropractor and holistic doctor, Dr. Julie Lord (my best friend of almost 30 years), Celebrity Publicist and Executive Producer, April Love and 104.7 The Fish, Beth Bacall, Creative Marketing Director of B'Tyli Wellness and Beauty Co. and best friend, Kristina Millsaps, my lawyer and best friend, Ina Cook. These ladies have help mold me into the woman I am today. They have advised my soul, spirit, and mind. They are never afraid to tell me the truth, support whatever I am doing, build me up, with love and lots of grace, so I can discover my "best self."

3 things that we should know about you?

I am a kidney transplant survivor; my husband donated his kidney to me 10 years ago.
I got to cook next to my favorite Food Network chef, Alex Guarnaschelli, while filming a Food Network show for two months in New York, a dream come true.
I was voted “quietest girl” in all of seventh grade, go figure. LOL.

What fuels your drive? Being able to create and touch people's lives with that creation. It can be in a new dish I came up with and shared it with someone and they loved it and they got it. It could be a new painting or a meditation and wellness workshop and someone felt what I was trying to express. They felt the passion in what I am sharing. It's nothing like when an idea stirs up inside of me and I can pour it out to the world and it touches someone in a real way. That makes me so fired up inside. Someone was touched by the same energy that touched me and see it made a difference in their lives, that's just pure passion being transferred from one soul to the next.

Sugarcoat is designed to seduce the senses. A gorgeous ambiance that wow, a luscious haven to relax and enjoy the moment.

What exciting project are you working on? I am working on radio show segment on a large radio station here in Atlanta, that will go live in the next few months. It's very exciting to be able to use this type of platform to share my passion for cooking and nutrition. I am also working on my third book that launches this fall. This book is very personal for me. I took a year and practiced just being silent for 8 hours every Monday. I prayed and meditated in silence, no contact with the outside world, just God and me. It was life changing, because in that stillness, I found a voice in me that I thought I lost many years ago. I even discovered parts of myself I didn't know. I hope this book will help people to unplug and take time out to hear their own inner voice and truth.

Books you've enjoyed and what's the takeaway from that book? The Unthethered Soul: The Journey Beyond Yourself. My takeaway: Lisa it is not about you!

What are the lessons you've gained that have profoundly shifted your direction in business?

The first biggest lessons I have learned that shifted the direction of my business is, do what you know you need to do first, so you can do what you want to do later. Yes, no one wants to change the dirty diapers in business, but if you don't clean that stuff up, it's going to smell bad later and you will have a bigger mess on your hands. Another lesson I have learned, it may take you longer to get there, but be careful how you build, one bad brick can tear the whole building down. It is so easy as a business owner to get desperate and just align yourself and business with whoever comes along and wants to help, no realizing what help they are truly giving you and why they want to help. I have learned to be more discerning, for me it's about energy, not what you can do for me or whom you know. It’s about the divine connection.

Your mantra? Keep it simple and it will not be complicated.

What do you do for fun? I enjoy date nights with my husband, hiking, cooking with my sons, gardening, painting, going out dancing and playing with my grandkids.

What legacy do you want to leave behind? I want to leave behind to my children, my family, my friends and perhaps the world. All answers are in the heart of God, so know God. Love because you are Love and you are free to do so. Do what feels true. Listen... truth is always speaking. Laugh a lot, cry a lot, and dance a lot, without apology. Live your dreams short or long, because they are what keep us awake in this world. This is my legacy, because this is the place I try living from each day.
