Who are your biggest influencers and mentors personally & professionally and explain why?

·         One of my mentors is my brother-in-law, Hooshang Soleimani, who has taught me first and foremost about the importance of integrity, compassion, and empathy both in my personal and professional life. He always reminded me that if you do your best, you’ll be rewarded. More specifically in business, he emphasized the importance of delegation and treating your employees fairly, reminding me that there is always enough food on the table for everyone.

·         My other mentor in life is Iraj Zadeh who taught me that presentation and salesmanship can take you far. He himself had moved from a small town to a big city and found great success by leading with those.

·         Lastly, my grandmother, who taught me one very important lesson – he who gives should never remember, he that receives should never forget.

What fuels your drive? Premium grade fuel (dad joke). What fuels my drive is creating art that has an impact and helping artists become respected professionals in the community. I’m also fueled by watching my daughters pursue the work they love; my daughter Tallia cofounded Mavenly + Co. to help women know their worth and take their careers to the next level, and my daughter  Nadia is pursuing her culinary degree in New York City after pursuing her Bachelor’s in Sociology and serving as the music director for the Album 88 radio station here in Atlanta. And of course, my wife Roya, who keeps us physically and mentally in shape as a personal trainer and yoga instructor – my champion and partner in all things.

What exciting project are you working on? I’ve recently begun putting together my own non-profit organization, Undo Starving Artists (USA) in order to challenge the misconception that you can’t successful make a living creating art. I’m also taking part in Gwinnett’s Art Brigade to create a platform for artists to show their work and gain recognition through public art; I’m excited to announce that we’ll be unveiling our first creation on December 15th in Gwinnett County. And lastly, I have been working on a new concept and platform, Framely, to visually enhance art prints.

What's been your most successful approach in building business relationships? My most successful approach in building business relationships started on the soccer field – the Atlanta District Amateur Soccer League to be exact. You have to put yourself in environments with people who you’ll cultivate authentic connections with and share meaningful experiences with. My other approach rests in networking and connecting with folks who are similarly self-made and who come from a similar background as me – people who moved to the states and built lives for themselves in a new country. In my opinion, there’s no such thing as a “business” relationship. They’re all just relationships. At the end of the day, it’s about being consistent in your communication, maintaining relationships, and always remembering birthdays.
